Take-Up Units

Take up units are used primarily for maintaining conveyor belt and conveyor chain tension. They are mounted within a special slide rail housing with generally a threaded bar and nuts used to increase and decrease the tension as required. The take up unit itself is manufactured from cast iron with a ball bearing insert. Challenge take up units are suitable for normal duty applications and can accommodate shaft diameters from 20mm – 3/4” up to 60mm – 2.1/4” .

Tapered roller

• Gcr15 high carbon chromium bearing steel is the standard material for bearing rings and balls
• Stainless steel shields are available
• Seals are Buna Nitrile and fluorocarbon, silicon and Teflon seals are available for special applications
• Retainers for corrosive environment, misalignment or high speed applications are available in stainless steel, nylon or phenolic resins
